Abstract

This paper aims to analyze several parts, namely the first part will explain the factors causing The Arab Spring. In the second part, this paper will provide an explanation of the Arab media before and after the uprising. Meanwhile, the third part will review the formation of a “public space” that allows political change in the Middle East through social media. The people of the Arab world believe that the ideal life is the establishment of a democratic political system. Therefore, democratization becomes an inseparable part of The Arab Spring. The spirit of mass movements in Tunisia and Egypt also spread to other Middle Eastern countries. The keywords in this dissemination are transnational activism and digital technology in the context of the public sphere. Transnational activism takes the form of constant reports from the media about what has been going on for months in Tunisia and Egypt. In the case of the revolution in the Middle East, there is an interesting phenomenon, namely that technology is starting to play an important role and people, especially the younger generation, are getting smarter in using technology.
