Abstrak

This study examines the dual-layer repetition stylistics in Surah Al-Ma'un, focusing on the integration of sound repetition and meaning repetition as a form of social criticism in the Qur’an. Surah Al-Ma'un was chosen because it possesses a concise yet powerful linguistic structure enriched with repetitive elements that strengthen its moral and social messages. The purpose of this research is to identify the forms of phonological repetition and semantic repetition in the surah and to explain their aesthetic and ideological functions in constructing social criticism. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using stylistic analysis methods. The data consist of verses in Surah Al-Ma'un that contain phonological and semantic repetition patterns. Data collection was conducted through library research, while data analysis was carried out by identifying patterns of repeated sounds, words, and meanings that are interconnected. The findings reveal that sound repetition appears in the harmony of final phonemes in each verse, creating a firm and emotional rhythm, while meaning repetition is reflected in the recurring themes of neglect toward humanitarian and religious values. These two forms of repetition combine to form a dual-layer repetition that reinforces the persuasive power of the verses as social criticism against neglecting orphans, refusing to help the poor, and practicing ostentation in worship. Therefore, the stylistic repetition in Surah Al-Ma'un functions not only as a linguistic aesthetic device but also as a rhetorical strategy to instill social and moral awareness in readers.
